THOUSANDS of people made the most of the public holiday to enjoy all the excitement of the Cairns Show finale on Friday.
There were plenty of laughs and screams to be had at sideshow alley with riders enjoying the choice of thrilling rides.
It was a day of firsts for Innisfail girl Emilia Taylor who was enjoying her time on the flying cars.
Emilia’s mother Shannon Bruschi said the show brings back memories for her.
“I remember how fun it was when I was a kid so I really want to give the same to my daughter,” she said.
Patrica Cahalane has not missed a Cairns show in almost 70 years and was glad to be back.
“The atmosphere, people and exhibits here are fantastic as always,” she said
Showgoers were also felling generous with the Peacemaker Apparel crew raising more than $4000 raised for returned service men and women.
Founder Rhys Mitchell said it was great to see the donations coming in as it really makes a difference.
The action moves further north this weekend with the Mossman Show on Sunday and Monday at Mossman Showgrounds.
