A man has appeared in court after allegedly setting up a recording device in the bathroom of his rental in Cairns.

Ian Richard Duncan has been revealed as the man charged after allegedly setting up a recording device in the bathroom of his rental in Brinsmead.
It will be alleged the 52-year-old was renting a room at the house.
A woman living at the residence contacted police after allegedly finding the recording device on a towel as she was about to get into the shower.
Mr Duncan was located by Cairns detectives on Sunday at a Redlynch address.
Police conducted a search of the residence and allegedly located dangerous drugs, drug utensils and women’s underwear.
The man was conveyed to the watch house and later charged with making recordings in breach of privacy, possessing dangerous drug, possession of drug utensils and stealing.
He was refused police bail.
His matter was heard at Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
He did not appear in court and it was adjorned until December 15.
Mr Duncan has been remanded in custody.
