Melbourne couple soar to honeymoon in wedding attire
A Melbourne couple has taken their wedding celebrations to new heights, boarding a flight to Cairns still dressed in their bridal attire straight after saying ‘I do’.
Newlyweds Melissa and Corbin Brailsford kicked off their honeymoon with a highly unusual move – flying to Cairns dressed in their wedding gear.
The couple, who were holidaying in Palm Cove this week, held a ceremony and reception for just 20 family members in Melbourne.
As soon as the celebrations wrapped up at 5pm, they said goodbye and headed straight for the airport to jump on a plane.
Melissa, who described herself as a “sparkling bride” walking through the airport, said keeping the wedding dress on made the transition “extra special”.
“It just kept the niceness of being married and everything going,” she said.
“It wasn’t like I got to go home, change, get on the flight, and it’s over. It just kept the magic going, and it was beautiful.
“Thankfully, my dress folded over myself so I could sit in the chair, but it was surreal.”
The loved-up couple grabbed a photo in the plane’s cockpit and got a special shout out from the crew captain when the plane landed.
Corbin said there was “a lot of jealousy” from onlookers.
“We were together on the plane that a lot of people were saying congratulations and everything,” Corbin said.
Jetstar cabin manager Rachel White said it had never happened before.
“It was great to be part of their special day,” Ms White said.
“We like to celebrate special moments in people’s lives, so to have them on-board was fabulous.”
Since landing in the Far North, the couple enjoyed scuba diving, snorkelling, visiting the tank museum and going fishing after hiring a boat.
