An 85-year-old man has died at a private property in the Atherton Tablelands following reports of a drowning.
The man was found unresponsive by his son just after 5pm in a creek on the Nerada property on Tuesday, November 5.
Emergency services were called to the residence, about 100 km from Cairns, where they found the man in a life-threatening condition.
A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said the patient had been assessed on-scene.
“The patient was assessed on scene in a life-threatening condition, he was not transported to a hospital,” he said.
Queensland Police Service confirmed the patient was out of the water on their arrival and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner following a non-suspicious sudden death in Nerada on November 5,” a spokeswoman for QPS said.
“Emergency services were called to a private residence just after 5pm to reports of a drowning.
“Upon arrival, an 85-year-old man was located deceased,” she said.
