Man alleged stabbed in the back during a break-and-enter in a Cooktown home
A Cooktown man has been stabbed in the back by an intruder who broke into his home and then fled on foot.

A man was rushed to hospital after an intruder broke into his home and allegedly stabbed him in the back using a knife found at the property, in a remote Far North community.
Emergency services responded to the scene at a Helen Street residence in Cooktown about 12.25am on July 10.
The man 22-year-old man was rushed to Cooktown Hospital with a wound to his back.
Initial reports indicated he was in a potential life-threatening condition.
A Queensland police spokesman said the intruder broke into the home and was confronted by the male occupant.
“It is alleged the offender then used a knife from the residence to stab the male occupant in his back,” he said.
“The offender then fled the scene on foot.”
The spokesman said the victim is in a non-life threatening condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or vision that may assist investigations, including dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
