A romance film starring an actor from The Devil Wears Prada blockbuster is being shot in Far North Queensland.
American actor Adrian Grenier, best known for his role in The Devil Wears Prada, will join Australian star Jessica De Gouw in heartfelt romantic comedy, You, Always.
Produced by Brisbane-based studio Jaggi Entertainment, the film will follow Ethan (Grenier ), who realises he’s been in love with his best friend Dr Jen Bell (De Gouw), just as her life is turned upside down by the arrival of charismatic author Patrick, played by fellow Aussie, Desmond Chiam.
Mr Grenier said it was a dream to be filming in Cairns.
“The natural beauty of Far North Queensland provides such a stunning backdrop for this story, and the warmth of the local community and the Jaggi Entertainment family has been incredible,” Mr Grenier said.
“It’s exciting to bring this project to life in such a special place, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.
“Wrapping just before the holidays makes it feel even more magical — it’s the perfect way to end the year.”
Also joining the cast is comedian Yasmin Kassim (One Perfect Match), Spencer McLaren (The Secret Life of Us, Fake) and Cairns newcomer Adyn Kingi.
Jaggi Entertainment producer Kylie Pascoe said the opening of Screen Queensland Studios in Cairns earlier this year enhanced the experience of filming in Far North Queensland and complemented the company’s established passion for creating films in the region.
“Filming in Far North Queensland has allowed us to capture the stunning natural beauty of what Queensland has to offer, it’s truly a privilege to create this story in such a unique and inspiring location,” Ms Pascoe said.
You, Always marks the sixth Jaggi Entertainment production filmed in the region.
Film producer Steve Jaggi said he was thrilled to bring You, Always to life in Cairns.
“The region’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant community have been the perfect setting for this production which we will be presenting on a world stage,” Mr Jaggi said.
“The support we’ve received from locals has already been amazing and it’s exciting to see this story come together in such a remarkable part of Queensland.”
Screen Queensland chief executive Jacqui Feeney said that the project was supported by the agency’s Screen Finance Fund and Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Incentive and marked the first project to receive funding from the new North Queensland Production Incentive.
You, Always was written by Ansley Gordon and directed by Christine Luby.
Jaggi Entertainment was one of seven recipients of Screen Queensland’s $3 million Business Enterprise fund.
