A group of endangered Far North quolls will take on pop music giant Taylor Swift in a bid to shake off the pop star from the top spot on the ARIA charts.

The Northern Quolls will feature alongside kangaroos, dingoes and possums, on the third iteration of Songs of Disappearance, which went viral in 2021 with ‘Birds,’ after knocking the likes of ABBA and Adele from the top of the charts.

‘Birds’ flew to number two on the ARIA Christmas album chart in 2021, with second album Frogs hopping to number three in 2022, leapfrogging over the likes of Harry Styles and Jimmy Barnes.

To get to the top, ‘Mammals’ will have to compete with 1989 (Taylor’s Version), with the pop star dominating the charts since the album’s release in October.

Australian Conservation Foundation director of fundraising Christine Anderson said she was confident the mammals would be able to knock Taylor Swift off her perch.

“We think we can absolutely beat Taylor Swift on the chart. We know how much Aussies love wildlife and animals. This is our rallying cry we don’t want to see any more of them go extinct,” Ms Anderson said.

Ms Anderson said 50 per cent of profits would be donated to ACF to help protect Australia’s threatened animals.

“Each mammal has a different call or sound and thats what’s being recorded. We’ve worked with a talented team of people who go into nature to record these animals in the wild,” she said.

All pre-orders by December 7 will act as a vote for the mammals on the ARIA Album Chart.

Pre-order and purchase the album on the Sounds of Disappearance website.
