Here is everything you need to know about the Far North’s Covid-19 vaccination rollout and how Australia is tracking overall.
Cairns has well and truly met the 90 per cent fully vaccinated target, with 91.1 per cent of residents in the local government area now double-jabbed against Covid as of January 10.
Statewide, 88.72 per cent of residents are now fully vaccinated with 91.59 per cent of residents having had at least one dose.
Health authorities are also urging eligible residents to book their booster shot as cases of the highly contagious Omicron variant soar across the state in the wake of the Queensland border opening.
Cases have spiked in the Far North, with the virus now confirmed in Yarrabah and multiple communities across Cape York and the Torres Strait.
"Covid is likely to affect you and your family in the coming weeks," the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service has advised.
The vaccination hub at the Cairns Convention Centre has reopened to allow Far Northerners to get their jabs and booster shots.
Unvaccinated patrons remain banned from a range of venues including pubs, cafes and restaurants due to rules which came into effect on December 17.
