LOOKING around the lush and gorgeous Cairns Botanic Gardens beloved Australian landscape architect and gardening television personality Costa Georgiadis said the place was a real inspiration for FNQ gardeners.
As the Botanic Gardens Day Ambassador, Costa said he was delighted to meet with Cairns Botanic Gardens curator Charles Clarke and ganger Ross Thomas on Sunday to celebrate Botanic Gardens Day.
“It's a real pleasure be surrounded by this ecosystem,” he said.
“Not just the plants but the human ecosystem as well, with Charles and Ross, two of the individuals who share the incredible history, knowledge and plant love which exists in this place.
“They look after and guide the future of this incredible garden.”
Earlier, Mr Clarke gave Costa an extensive tour of the Munro Martin Conservatory and said it was wonderful to have him visit the gardens.
“It’s fantastic to have Costa here, we really appreciate it,” he said.
Mr Thomas agreed.
“To have someone of Costa’s stature come along and share his knowledge and enthusiasm for something we love as well, it is fantastic,” Mr Thomas said.
Costa said any gardeners in FNQ who want to get ideas for what they should plant at home should visit and take inspiration from the Cairns Botanic Gardens,
“May is Botanic Gardens Month and there’s no better place to go and be inspired in Cairns,” he said.
