Emergency services have been called to a serious two vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway.

At 12.42 a triple-0 call came in from witnesses to what is understood to be a crash involving a car and truck.

The accident happened 20km south of Cardwell at the foot of the Cardwell Range.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the details of the crash were unclear as officers had yet to arrive at the scene.

“It looks like a truck and car but until our officers are on scene,” he said.

Poor phone reception in the area was also causing difficulties for emergency services.

Queensland Ambulance Service said one patient was in a life-threatening condition and the truck driver being assessed by medics at the scene.

Police crews are currently en route to the crash from Ingham.
