Cairns vaccination hub to reopen early as Covid cases rise
AS more people test positive for Covid and new mask rules come in from Sunday, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service said its vaccination hub will reopen earlier than planned.

NEARLY 80 people have been diagnosed with Covid on January 1, bringing the number of cases since 19 December to 341.
On Saturday Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service confirmed an additional 79 Covid-19 cases and said they would reopen the vaccination clinic at the Cairns Convention Centre a day earlier than planned on Monday January 3 from 8am to 3pm and no appointment is necessary.
A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service representative urged everyone to be aware of the pandemic’s ongoing spread in the community and to take preventive measures.
“Covid-19 is circulating in our community and we will continue to see increasing cases in coming days and weeks,” the representative said.
“Covid-19 is likely to affect you and your family in the coming weeks and you are encouraged to make a Covid-19-Ready plan.”

* Get tested as soon as you develop any symptoms, even if mild
* Keep wearing your mask
* Check-in wherever you go
* Wash your hands regularly
* Get vaccinated

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service advised that there are queues at many testing centres, so please come prepared.
