The Cairns Chamber of Commerce has hosted its annual Christmas Luncheon, bringing together the local businesses community for its final luncheon event of the year.
Cairns Chamber of Commerce CEO Patricia O’Neill said this month’s luncheon served as a wrap-up of the year.
The event was sold out with 170 people in attendance.
“We like to bring a little bit of happiness to the business community so this is a bit less formal and we have entertainment,” said Ms O’Neill.
This year’s entertainer was Australian author, actor and comedian Jean Kittson.
“Chamber President Enver Selita and myself usually wrap up some of the highlights of the year and of some of the advocacy issues that we have been pushing for,” said Ms O’Neill.
Some of the issues the Chamber of Commerce has been advocating for is a CQUniversity campus in the CBD and supporting CentaCare initiative School Savvy that supplies underprivileged children with school supplies for their first day back to school.
“CentaCare has done an absolutely amazing job at helping families that are struggling at that time of the year when the kids go back to school,” Ms O’Neill said.
