A new Far North business is flipping the usual process of road worthy certificates and servicing by offering a mobile motorcycle workshop.
Former Yamaha mechanic Damon Robbins has branched out on his own to create the new mobile service under the business name Black Mountain Motorcycles.
The state-of-art workshop is equipped with a hydraulic elevator at the rear of a truck that can lift motorcycles level with bed before being wheeled onto the bike stand.
“Getting a bike to and from the workshop can be a pain and taking a workshop to the bike could be a good model,” he said.
“I have always been in the motorcycle industry and have been working in local dealerships and I noticed an opening for the service.”
Specialising in Japanese bikes Mr Robbins said he could do all general work, log book servicing, maintenance and servicing as well as road worthy certificates at the mobile workshop.
“General repairs are OK to be carried out on site, chain and sprockets and suspension work but if it’s more complicated I prefer to take the bike away and return it to the customer,” he said.
Mr Robbins said there has been strong interest from the Cairns motorcycle community since launching the business last month.
