AIRPORT businesses are ready to welcome domestic travellers on Monday when borders open.
Sun Airport Hospitality operations manager Amy Glennon said that she will be happy to see travellers return to one of their venues Macchinetta Cafe at the domestic terminal.
“The last couple months have been rough, it has been really quiet and we are looking forward to see an upturn in travellers,” she said.
“We are so excited, business wise and personally. My team and I are keen to do some travelling.”
Ms Glennon said they are looking forward to a busier school holiday period.
“The last school holidays were a washout. We were preparing for this busy period and it just didn’t come.” she said.
“Everyone is really looking forward to Christmas and the holidays.”
Ms Glennon said she has already started to put in bulk orders from her supplier.
She said even as borders open she isn’t concerned about outbreaks occurring in the cafe.
“We have all our procedures, we’ve been doing it a long time,” she said.
The staff at the cafe are also keen for a return to normal.
“They are excited. I don’t know if it will go bang on Monday, I think it will gradually increase but everyone is happier when its busier,” she said.
“You get a good sense of purpose on why you came to work when its busy.”
