Boy, 12, charged with bike theft, assault and stolen car offences

A 12-year-old boy who allegedly drove a stolen Kia Rio unlicensed and without due care or attention has been charged after also being accused of assaulting a child and stealing his bike.

A 12-year-old boy who allegedly drove a stolen Kia Rio unlicensed and without due care or attention has been charged after also being accused of assaulting a child and stealing his bike.

Police allege the boy approached another 12-year-old boy on Reservoir Road in Kanimbla around 3pm on November 19.

The offender pushed the victim from his bicycle and threatening him before taking off on the bike, it’s alleged.

A 12-year-old boy has been charged with threatening another child and driving a stolen car in separate incidents in Cairns.

A member of the public called police on the boy’s behalf and officers were able to locate the alleged offender and the bike on Murray Street about 30 minutes later.

It will be further alleged the boy was involved with a Kia Rio stolen from a Manoora home on October 30.

He has been charged with a total of five offences including one count each of demanding property with menace with intent to steal, unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving unlicensed and drive without due care or attention.

He was refused bail and was due to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court on November 20.
