Hang onto your hats, keep applying the sunblock and have your water bottle handy is the advice from the Bureau of Meteorology for Cairns this week.
Bureau of Meteorology duty meteorologist Kimba Wong said the hot weather currently blanketing the region was not going anywhere soon.
“The rainfall potential for FNQ over the next couple of days will be hit or miss with showers and thunderstorms,” Ms Wong said.
“There will be some pretty hot and dry weather for Monday, so we advise everyone to stay hydrated, wear a hat and check on those most vulnerable to hot conditions, your elderly neighbours and your pets.”
Ms Wong said the Tuesday and Wednesday have a reasonable chance of rain.
“The rain will be quite variable across the region and hopefully some south east breezes could offer relief from the heat.
“After Cairns had the extreme heatwave conditions last week, this heat is not going anywhere anytime soon other than slight fluctuations.”
