Acting Inspector Chetham said Mr Ganai Rajasekaran’s brother was among many people who made initial efforts to rescue him, but could not locate him in the deep swimming hole.

“My understanding is he was walking at the top of the falls, my understanding is that gentleman didn’t intend to go swimming on the day. He was simply taking in the scenery,” Inspector Chetham said.

He said it was not believed Mr Ganai Rajasekaran had hit his head in the fall, but a post mortem examination would be held and a report prepared for the coroner.
