A 17-year-old boy and a Manunda man are facing more than a dozen charges following separate alleged crime sprees spanning over two months.
The teenager is facing up to 55 charges, including break-ins, theft, assault, and vehicle-related offenses.
On Friday, November 8, police located the teen at a Sheridan Street address and took him into custody.
He now faces 23 charges of breaking and entering, eight of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, seven of stealing, and seven of assault.
The teen appeared before the Cairns Children’s Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday, November 11.
In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man from Manunda was arrested also on Friday morning on Severin Street.
Police allege the man attempted to flee after being instructed to stop and bit an officer on the leg as he was being arrested.
It is also alleged that the man was found in possession of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
The man faces multiple charges, including three counts of stealing, one count each of serious assault of police, obstructing police, entering a dwelling, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, as well as possession of dangerous drugs, possession of restricted medication, and receiving tainted property.
He appeared before Cairns Magistrates Court on Saturday, November 9, and was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday.
