22-year-old Manoora man arrested over alleged armed robbery, car theft, and obstructing police

A 22-year-old man who police allege threatened someone with a knife during a robbery and later fled from a stolen Mercedes-Benz has been arrested after a short chase.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in Cairns North after a short foot pursuit with police on Wednesday morning after he allegedly fled from a stolen car.

Police chased the man on foot after officers located a reportedly stolen Mercedes-Benz, shortly after 8am on November 6.

Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Unit said the man was allegedly seen to run from the vehicle and apprehended on Maytown Close, a short time later.

It is also alleged the man had threatened an employee with a knife and stole items from a Swallow Street business on September 8.

Police will further allege the man threatened an employee with a knife and stole items from a Pease Street business on September 29.

The Manoora man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery in company, and one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, stealing, and obstructing police.

He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 7.
