2024 NAPLAN results reveal region's top performers

Cairns’ top performing schools have been revealed in a statewide analysis of this year’s NAPLAN results.

Trinity Anglican School and Cairns School of Distance Education are Far North Queensland’s top performing NAPLAN schools in 2024.

An independent analysis of newly-released 2024 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

Cairns School of Distance Education, in Manunda, had the best primary results than any other school in Far North Queensland, scoring an average of 537.8.

Walkamin State School in Walkamin was the second best for the region with an average score of 530.4, while Trinity Anglican School in White Rock was the third-best with an average score of 523.

The top-performing secondary school was Trinity Anglican School, in White Rock, where the average result was 611.

Cairns School of Distance Education in Manunda was the second-best for the region with an average score of 609.8, while St Augustine’s College in Cairns was the third-best with an average score of 590.8.

To determine how each school performed in 2024, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
