$10.5m Mission Beach revamp could stimulate investment
A large scale revamp of Mission Beach’s town centre is poised to encourage more development from investors, according to Cassowary Coast Regional Council. Find out why.

REVITALISATION of the Mission Beach town centre is a step closer with Cassowary Coast Regional Council releasing concept plans for the project.
The multi-million dollar plan entails an upgrade to the Village Green and along Porter Promenade, including Donkin Lane and Campbell St.
Stage one of the Mission Beach masterplan, completed in March, involved 56 carpark bays, including two disabled parks and three bays suitable for caravans or trailers, on the corner of Campbell St and Endeavour Ave.
Stage two has a $10.5m budget, according to a council report.
“It will create a vibrant town centre, breathing life back into Mission Beach and surrounds for the enjoyment of our community and visitors,” the report states.
“The revitalisation will bring more tourism to the region and encourage further development from investors.”
A total of $3,632,042 has been allocated in the 2022-23 budget for the project, mostly from a state government grant.
The project has been in the works since 2018 when community consultation started and continued in early 2019 when the draft master plan was developed, with a total of 196 submissions received.
Division 3 Councillor Trudy Tschui said the draft concept designs amplified the beauty of the region, weaving in elements of the natural environment.
“We’re really excited to share these draft concepts with the community and stakeholders,” she said.
“The design encapsulates the Mission Beach experience – where the rainforest meets the beach, and provides greater connection between Porter Promenade, the Village Green and Mission Beach foreshore.”
She said council would appoint a community and stakeholder reference group with representatives including business traders and operators, property owners and residents, Traditional Owners, community groups and the wider community.
