Bush-fire damaged trees to be detonated by TFS

Trees damaged by the Riveaux Rd fire have been assessed by experts as too dangerous to fell manually.

EXPLOSIVES will be used to blow up dangerous trees burnt in the recent Huon Valley fires.

Tasmania Fire Service Incident Management Team Officer Phil Douglas said a number of trees damaged by the Riveaux Rd fire had been assessed by experts as too dangerous to fell manually.

Mr Douglas said hazardous trees near Geeveston off Arve Rdf, Edwards Rd Lidgerwood Spur and Arve Rd Loop would need to be brought down using explosives.

The explosions will occur between 9am and 5pm Wednesday.

Mr Douglas said nearby residents needn’t be alarmed by the explosions which may be heard throughout parts of the Huon Valley.
