DESTRUCTIVE 100km/h winds, rain and snow is on the way for much of Tasmania this week, with sheep graziers warned subzero temperatures will bring frost.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for north coastal areas, the east, south and south west Tuesday with peak gusts expected to exceed 100km/h.

Sky News Meteorologist Rob Sharpe said a “strong front” would move across Tasmania from Tuesday bringing cold, wet and windy conditions.

“There are still a few showers moving through (Monday) but it will ramp up again (with) strong winds in the next front that surges across Tasmania on Tuesday,” Mr Sharpe said.

“We’re going to see some cold, wet and windy weather with that system only brushing mainland Australia so therefore out of that the snow will very much focus on Tasmania.”
