Aussies have been encouraged to head out and get themselves a parma — or parmi — for a good cause.

More than 350 pubs across the country will donate $1 from every parma sold to help struggling farmers as part of a new campaign.

The “Parma for a Farmer” campaign was launched to help farmers affected by natural disasters including floods and droughts.

Every parma meal sold across more than 350 of ALH Hotels will have $1 donated to Rural Aid during February.

ALH Hotels has venues across the country, including Kirribilli Hotel and New Brighton Hotel in Sydney and Royal Oak and Pier Hotel in Melbourne.

Rural Aid has been supporting farmers through natural disasters since 2015, and has given more than $5m to “better the lives of Australian farmers” over the past year.

Rural Aid chief executive officer John Warlters said “every dollar donated makes a difference”, and would be put towards a range of services including water delivery and mental health support.

“The funds raised will go a long way in providing much-needed assistance to farmers and their families, who are facing some of the toughest times of their lives,” Mr Warlters said.

ALH Hotels general manager of operations Lukas McKay said the campaign, using the menu favourite, hoped to raise more than last year’s $154,770.

“The chicken parma has long been a favourite on our menu, and we’re thrilled to turn every sale into an opportunity to give back,” Mr McKay said.

“By enjoying a meal at one of our ALH Hotels this February, our customers will be directly contributing to a cause that’s close to all of our hearts.

“We encourage everyone to join us in supporting our farmers and giving generously to this important initiative.”

Mr McKay said funds would ensure Rural Aid could continue to provide “essential services such as mental health outreach, water delivery for drought-stricken regions, and financial assistance to help farmers navigate the financial strain caused by environmental challenges”.
