Teen stable after shark attack at popular beach

A teenage boy is in a stable condition in hospital after being bitten on the arm and leg by a shark at a popular beach in northern NSW.

A teenager is in a stable condition after being bitten by a shark in an attack on NSW’s north coast on Sunday.

The boy was flown to hospital after being bitten at Cabarita Beach in the Tweed region on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the popular beach just before 4pm.

The boy was bitten by a shark. It was not known what type of shark it was.

NSW Ambulance said the teenage boy sustained injuries to his right upper-arm, wrist and right leg after being bitten by the shark.

His injuries were described as serious.

But he was in a stable condition as he was flown to hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, NSW Ambulance said.

It is not known what type of shark attacked the boy.
