New vision has been released showing the dramatic arrest of a man in Perth after the fatal shooting of another man.
Jimmy Deering, 32, was shot in the head during an incident on Needham Rd, Wooroloo, on Saturday morning, later dying of his injuries in Royal Perth Hospital.
WA Police carried out a search of the immediate area, warning nearby residents to keep their doors locked, before they tracked down a 35-year-old man on a roadside.
Body worn camera footage, released by police on Tuesday, shows the dramatic moment officers wearing combat helmets and armed with rifles approached the man.
“Hey, turn ‘round! Face the other way!” one officer can be heard shouting at the man.
“Put your hands on your head, keep them there!” commands another, while the man can be seen doing so while kneeling, shirtless, on the road shortly before he’s lead away.
Jacob John Dwyer, 35, was later charged with murder and appeared before Midland Magistrates Court on Monday.
The court heard Mr Dwyer was already out on home detention bail over alleged drug offences at the time of the alleged shooting.
That bail was revoked and he was remanded in custody to reappear later in November.
Meanwhile, tributes for Mr Deering have been flooding in through social media.
“I loved you like a brother and will miss you forever,” said one friend on Facebook.
“Will only remember you as the charismatic teenager with all the ability in the world,” said another.
Mr Deering was something of a cricket star in his younger years, having played for the WA Under-17s team alongside current cricket notables Mitch Marsh and Sam Whitehead.
The Balcatta Cricket Club also paid tribute to Mr Deering, who was part of their 2014-15 premiership team, describing him as “much loved,” a “great bloke,” and “very talented cricketer.”
It’s understood he leaves behind a three-year-old child.
