A 24-year-old man has been charged after allegedly making antisemitic comments toward a Sydney hospital worker inside an elevator.

A man has been charged with stalking and intimidation after allegedly making antisemitic comments at a hospital in southern Sydney.

The 24-year-old Arncliffe man was arrested on Thursday morning, following a report he had made antisemitic comments toward a 28-year-old staff member at St George Hospital in Kogarah.

The incident allegedly occurred inside an elevator at the hospital last Friday.

Police have since charged the man with stalking or intimidating with the intention of causing another person to fear physical harm, and using a carriage service to possess violent extremist material.

“Two mobile phones, seized when a search warrant was executed at premises at Arncliffe, have been taken for further examination,” a police spokesperson said.

The man was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
