People heading to Vivid Sydney this weekend have been warned to plan ahead as track works disrupt train travel across the city.

People heading into Vivid Sydney this weekend have been warned to plan ahead as track work disrupts train travel.

Travel into the city for Vivid Sydney should not be heavily impacted by track work, but authorities have told people to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or planning app.

A Transport NSW spokesperson said an additional 400 train services would be operating over the duration of the event.

From 9.45pm on Saturday to 6am Sunday, buses will replace T3 and T4 trains between Sydenham and Central stations in both directions as urgent track work is carried out.

People travelling home from Vivid to T4 Illawarra Line stations should catch a T8 Airport and South Line train and change at Wolli Creek to continue their journey.

T8 Airport Line trains run between the City Circle and Wolli Creek.

The T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line will see buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland all weekend.

On the T3 Bankstown Line, buses will replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham stations.

Additionally, on Sunday from 4am to 6am buses will replace trains between Cabramatta and Bankstown.

Buses will also replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe on the T7 Olympic Park Line all day Saturday and Sunday.

Sydney Trains will have 800 workers carrying out a significant amount of work over this period, including track reconditioning, turnout renewal, a level crossing upgrade, signalling works, rail grinding and resurfacing.

For areas outside of Sydney, from 8pm to 3.30am on Saturday buses will replace trains on the Hunter Line between the Newcastle Interchange and Telarah.

The South Coast Line will see buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong all weekend.

From 9.50pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday, buses also replace South Coast Line trains between Waterfall and Central.

From 4.40am to 4pm on Saturday buses will replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown on the Southern Highlands Line.
