A man found stabbed to death outside his home in a Sunshine Coast suburb has been remembered by his wife as “the kindest, gentlest person” she’s ever known.
Zdravko Bilic, 57, was found unresponsive by a neighbour in the front yard of his Napalle St property in Warana about 7.35pm on Monday.
Police say he had sustained stab wounds to his abdomen.
Mr Bilic’s wife, skincare found Gry Tomte paid tribute to her husband on Tuesday.
“He was the kindest, gentlest person I’ve ever known,” she told 9News.
“Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him.”
Detective Inspector Chris Toohey confirmed Mr Bilic was found unresponsive and declared deceased at the scene.
“His wife hadn’t heard from him and inquired with the neighbour who discovered him deceased,” Inspector Toohey said.
“After the man was declared deceased at the scene, investigations commenced.”
He confirmed he had two stab wounds to his abdomen and that police believe at this stage, “that was the cause of his death”.
“One of the lines of inquiry is that he has disturbed a break and enter,” he said.
“We will continue to follow that and other investigative strategies.”
Inspector Toohey said Mr Bilic was home by himself when the incident occurred, and police are running several lines of inquiry.
“We’re asking anyone with any assistance they may provide, or knowledge of this incident to come forward,” he said.
“The timeline we are looking at here is between Sunday night at 11pm to 7pm Monday.”
He said Mr Bilic was a “valued member of the community”.
“Any death is terrible, and this has shocked the neighbours. He is a community minded person that was well loved in the area,” he said.
“The deceased is married, and we are speaking with his wife now.”
Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 11pm on Sunday, July 13, and 7.35pm on Monday, July 14, to contact police.
“We will respond to all information, and any information welcome at this stage,” Detective Inspector Toohey said.
The luxury Warana home remains a crime scene as investigations continue.Ms Tomte and Mr Bilic purchased the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home for $2.5 million in December 2021, settling on the property in March 2022.
Originally from Norway, Ms Tomte founded Melbourne-based skincare company HUD Skin and Body, with clinics now in St Kilda and Northcote.
The company’s website describes the brand as “the most award-winning skin clinics in Melbourne”, saying Ms Tomte wanted to focus on a “no BS approach to skin” and “long-term results” after spending decades battling her own skin conditions.
She is now a prominent name in the beauty and aesthetics industry and is slated to speak at the Brisbane Aesthetic Summit next week, according to an Instagram post shared by the brand founder earlier this month.
Warana, part of the luxe Kawana Waters stretch, is known for its pristine beaches, million-dollar properties and tight-knit coastal community.
The area is regarded as one of the safest and most desirable parts of the Sunshine Coast.
