Geelong abattoir worker crushed by cattle, seriously injured

A young abattoir worker has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being crushed by cattle.

A man in his 20s has been trampled by cows at a Victorian abattoir.

The man was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The incident happened at a meatworks on the outskirts of Geelong.

Emergency services were called to the M.C. Herd abattoir in Corio about 2pm on Saturday.

The worker was crushed by livestock inside a trailer, Channel 9 reports.

Paramedics treated him inside the trailer before he was taken to hospital in Melbourne, in a serious but stable condition.

Channel 9 reports the worker was injured on his upper body. Ambulance Victoria has been contacted for comment.

WorkSafe Victoria is investigating.
