Ex-Ten reporter Tegan George has settled her lawsuit against the network, avoiding the matter going to a high-profile trial in the Federal Court next week.

Ms George sued the network in 2022 under the Fair Work Act, claiming the “toxic” culture at Ten’s Canberra bureau had reduced her “standing and reputation” as a journalist.

The matter was due to go to trial in the Federal Court next week but the hearing dates have been vacated, with Ms George confirming to NewsWire that the matter has been resolved.

“All matters have been resolved and the proceedings have been discontinued,” Ms George said in a statement.

Ten was set to defend the lawsuit, and in a statement of defence described Ms George’s claims as “vague” and “liable to be struck out”.

A source close to the case told NewsWire that Ms George was happy and healthy and had moved on with her life and was no longer working in the media.

Last year, Ms George settled a separate lawsuit with the network after she sued over trauma she said she suffered covering the horrific 2019-20 bushfires.

Ms George filed the lawsuit in the ACT Supreme Court claiming negligence, a breach of duty of care and that she was left unable to work.

Ten had denied any claim of negligence and the two parties in September reached an out-of-court settlement.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
