Emergency crews treat spider bite anaphylaxis and vending machine injury in NSW
An emergency helicopter and paramedics raced to two separate incidents on Saturday, including a man suffering a suspected spider bite and a young boy injured by a falling vending machine.
CareFlight and NSW Ambulance rushed to two urgent emergencies on Saturday, including a suspected spider bite near Wisemans Ferry and a vending machine accident in Bateau Bay.
Shortly after midday, a man in his 60s was flown to Westmead Hospital after suffering an allergic reaction, believed to be caused by a spider bite, while camping near Wisemans Ferry.
NSW Ambulance called in the Mounties CareFlight Helicopter, and paramedics on scene worked with a specialist doctor to stabilise the man next to the Hawkesbury River before he was flown to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Later that afternoon, just before 3pm, a young boy was injured in Bateau Bay when a claw skill tester vending machine fell on him during an event.
CareFlight’s team attended alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics, assessing and treating the boy at the scene.
The boy was taken by road ambulance to Gosford Hospital and remains in a stable condition.
