Broadcaster Derryn Hinch has revealed a new health battle

The broadcaster and former politician has provided an update on the treatment he is undergoing for his latest health issue.

Broadcaster Derryn Hinch has provided an update on his latest health battle.

The 80-year-old who was nicknamed the Human Headline is about to start his third round of radiation treatment for skin cancer on his face.

“I’m getting there. On Monday, I start Week 3 of my radiation treatment at the Alfred for facial skin cancer,” the posted on Facebook.

“So far, no side effects like tiredness, and scarring is minimal. Staff fantastic.”

A week earlier he posted that he was being treated at Melbourne’s The Alfred Hospital and was “feeling positive”.

“Staff fantastic. Also had skin cancer biopsy on the other side of my face. Never rains but it pours,” he posted.

Hinch told the Sunday Herald Sun a cancerous spot was discovered in February and removed by a doctor, but he needed further surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

He is now undergoing five rounds of radiation.

It’s not the first health issue the former radio and television current affairs host has faced.

He had a previous skin cancer issuer on the other side of his face eight years ago. Tests showed it was clear, He also underwent a liver transplant in 2011.

Hinch, who served a term in federal parliament as a senator for Victoria, recently considered restarting a political career.

His decided against standing for Lord Mayor of Melbourne after talking to advisers about the potential campaign bill.
