Aussie woman forking out hundreds for famed YouTube energy drink
A Sydney woman is desperate to get her hands on a beverage made famous by Youtuber Logan Paul, and has put a call out for help.
An eager Aussie is offering hundreds of dollars to secure the new energy drink of famed YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI.
The pair launched the drink, named Prime, last year and it quickly became a must-have for fans across the globe.
The Australian launch of the highly-anticipated drink across supermarkets on Wednesday is expected to spark a frenzy from fans.
But one shopper has decided to avoid the chaos all together, albeit at a cost.
The Sydney woman posted on Airtasker, offering $200 for someone to pick up 12 bottles.
“Looking for someone to visit Coles as soon as PRIME launches in store this week and get me 12 bottles, preferably in a mix of flavours” and “Get me PRIME drinks ASAP”.
A 500ml bottle of Prime should set you back about $10, and comes in Lemon Lime, Blue Raspberry, Ice Pop, Orange and Tropical Punch, however supplies sold out quickly across almost every online store on Thursday.
The Prime partners, who have a combined YouTube following of more than 47.7M subscribers, remain some of the most popular content creators on the video sharing platform.
In recent years both stars have made career moves into professional fighting, with Paul making his WWE wrestling debut in 2018 while KSI launched his boxing career the same year.
Paul and KSI were in Australia to attend the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight between Islam Makhachev and Australian Alexander Volkanovski in Perth on February 12.
The duo also undertook a promotional tour across multiple cities for their new Prime drink, which is now an official partner of the UFC.
Throngs of fans followed the social media stars everywhere they went, forcing the cancellation of multiple meet and greets over safety concerns.
A particularly horrifying incident unfurled when a 14-year-old was rushed to hospital on Monday February 13 after being injured in the frenzy around Paul and KSI’s appearance on Nine’s Today program, while multiple others were injured.
The boy was transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital just after 8.30am in a serious condition after falling down in the huge crowd, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Barricades were broken down by fans after the two YouTubers suggested they would hand out their drinks on the ground level instead of from the balcony of the North Sydney studio.
Police called off the ground level distribution of the beverage and assisted crowd members who had fallen over in the rush, with fans instead being instructed to collect one energy drink each before leaving in an orderly manner.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find multiple other fans needing assistance, one of which was a security guard who had fallen after becoming pinned behind a cement barricade intended to separate him from the crazed crowd.
One man is believed to have later disrupted nearby traffic by performing a ‘shoey’ with his drink, a trend that has taken off with visiting international celebrities over recent weeks, such as Logan Paul and Harry Styles.
The incident in Sydney came just two days after unexpected crowds forced the cancellation of the YouTubers’ appearance in Perth where they were scheduled to launch their energy drink at the Woolworths in Midvale Central Shopping Centre.
