Loved ones of a woman allegedly stabbed by her husband have waited three months for a charge to be officially laid over her death.
On Tuesday, Bohas White, 46, appeared before Darwin Local Court charged with the murder of his 42-year-old wife at Lajamanu on the evening of October, 2024.
More than 85 days after he allegedly stabbed his partner of two-decades, the Mr White appeared for a first mention before Judge Greg MacDonald.
NT Police have previously alleged the woman was stabbed with an edged weapon, before being rushed to the local clinic just after 6pm.
She passed away a short time later.
It was alleged that as news of the stabbing rippled through the remote community of 600 people, a crowd gathered and attacked her alleged murderer.
Mr White suffered non-life threatening injuries and he was arrested that evening.
Despite police stating in October that her alleged killer would be charged the next day, it has taken three months for him to appear before the courts on the murder charge.
White has been kept in custody for breaching his parole, having served time for an aggravated assault in 2022.
Despite Mr White being locked up, it took months for police to officially lay the homicide charge.
The woman was one of four Big Rivers region women allegedly killed by their partners over four months last year.
On Tuesday Mr MacDonald adjourned Mr White’s matter to March 12 for mention.
