Hobart dog groomer Alex Jones from Rokeby’s beloved Just Dogs has been crowned Tasmania’s best in a poll voted by the Mercury’s readers.
The local has loved pooches ever since she can remember and has been pampering dogs for the last nine years, winning the hearts of pups with her gentle and kind touch.
“Dogs are better than people. They don’t judge you and all they have to give is love. It’s so lovely building relationships with every single one of them.” she said.
Ms Jones is one of five talented groomers at Just Dogs that transform the looks of thousands of canines, offering high-quality treatments to all breeds from Chihuahuas to Newfoundlands.
“Alex is the glue that holds everything together,” said salon owner Julie Gunning.
“She is just phenomenal at what she does - as is every single one of the other girls at our salon. Just Dogs wouldn’t be Just Dogs without them, I admire all of them.”
After founding a grooming school and salon in England, Ms Gunning relocated to Tasmania in 2016 before establishing the Just Dogs salon in Rokeby, attracting a fluffy and cuddly cliente across the state.
As a committee member of the Pet Industry Association of Australia, the highly respected salon owner is looking at getting in touch with her passion for teaching, offering certified classes for wannabe dog groomers in Tasmania - a first for the state.
Alex from Just Dogs was one of five finalists who were in the running for the top gong. Other favourites included the The Dog Stylist, Grooming Den, 4Paws Hydrobath & Grooming and Spot on Grooming.
