A teenage boy is being remembered as a cherished son and beloved friend after he died in a freak workplace accident on the Gold Coast.

Beau Bradford was working at a construction site at Surfers Paradise about 7am on Monday when he was struck by a large object that had fallen from the boom of a concrete pump truck.

Paramedics rushed to the scene at The Lido but the 15-year-old couldn’t be saved.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokeswoman said it was aware of the incident.

“WHSQ inspectors attended the site and are investigating,” she said.

An online fundraiser has been launched to help Beau’s family cover funeral costs and take time off work to grieve their loss.

“There is no preparation for a loss like this,” organiser Alicia Downs wrote.

“Our entire family is heartbroken beyond words as we try to navigate the unimaginable.

“Beau was a cherished son to Amanda and Cameron, adored big brother to Irah, a loved stepson, nephew, grandson, cousin, and truly the best friend anyone could ever ask for.

“His kindness, his caring heart, and his quick sense of humour could brighten any room.”

Ms Downs said anyone who had the privilege of meeting Beau would know the world was “a lot dimmer without him today”.

“We adore Beau with every part of our hearts,” she wrote.

“Nothing in this world will ever feel right without him.

“In this world and the next, we will find you, Beau – our souls will be together, loving the life we deserved to experience with you.”

The fundraiser raised more than $33,000 in 10 hours.

Ms Downs, who is Beau’s aunt, said losing him has “shattered us in ways we never imagined”.

“As we continue to navigate this heartbreaking loss, we are learning just how much time, space, and support is needed for our family to grieve, heal, and take care of one another,” she wrote.

“Right now the most important thing is being able to hold our loved ones close without the added pressure of bills or financial stress.

“Any contribution, no matter the size, means more than we can express.

“Thank you for holding our family in your thoughts during this devastating time.

“Beau we will love you, miss you, and honour you forever. You are the greatest blessing of our lives.”
