BLUNDSTONE Arena’s managers have dispelled fears of a sewerage spill on the concourse area during the North Melbourne-GWS Giants clash.
Footage emerged of what appears to be of a sewerage pipe leak into the newest part of Blundstone Arena, the Ricky Ponting Stand.
In the video footage liquid is seen spilling from the overhead pipes, clearly marked sewerage, but Blundstone Arena venue manager Stephen McMullen allayed any fears.
“We sprung a leak on a different pipe, that was water, that was running from the upper level down and as the water looked for a way to get out it ran down the outside of the sewer pipe that people could see,” Mr McMullen said.
“It was just water.

“Certainly a lot of people saw the pipe and because of the black sign on it and the exposed pipe thought the sewer was leaking whereas it wasn’t it was the water coming out of that area.”
He said he was 100-per-cent sure the liquid was not sewerage and the issue had been located and fixed.
A crowd of 7832 saw the Giants record an easy victory over the Kangaroos.
