Latest - September 27: NT Police have arrested a 38-year-old who escaped from the Alice Springs Correctional Services earlier this week.

The man named Robin fled the Alice Springs centre about 3.21pm on Tuesday with police reporting he was likely not a threat to the public.

Police found and rearrested him about 10.40am at a home in the outer suburb of Ilparpa.

NT Police thanks the public for assisting in tracking him down.

Police hunt for man who escaped Alice Springs prison

Initial - Wednesday, September 25: Police are searching for a 38-year-old man who escaped Alice Springs Correctional Services on Tuesday afternoon.

An NT Police spokesperson said the man, Robin, was described as “Aboriginal, 180cm tall, with a medium build”.

“He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and jumper,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the man fled from prison about 3.21pm Tuesday.

They said the man was likely not a threat to the public but warned people to keep their distance if they spot him and report any information about his location to police on 131 444.

“Alice Springs Police are actively investigating his whereabouts and urge him to return to custody immediately,” the spokesperson said.
