Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn faces a fitness test on his shoulder ahead of his side’s clash with Port Adelaide on Friday night.
The 21-year-old copped a shoulder knock in the second quarter of Geelong’s loss to Melbourne and was eventually subbed out of the game in the third quarter.
Geelong coach Chris Scott said post-match that it was a contact injury for Bruhn and that the Cats were eager to inject substitute Gary Rohan into the game on Saturday night.
The Cats managed Mark O’Connor and Brandan Parfitt against Melbourne and have erred on the side of caution with injuries this season.
Bruhn ended up sitting out their round two clash with Adelaide with an ankle injury after Scott said during the week that he was tracking well to play.
Ruckman Toby Conway was managed for Geelong’s VFL win over Frankston but is available for selection this weekend, with the Cats having a bye this weekend in the VFL.
Skipper Patrick Dangerfield remains on schedule with his hamstring injury and is set to spend another 3-5 weeks on the sidelines.
Jed Bews, who is yet to feature at senior level this year, picked up an ankle injury in the second quarter of Geelong’s VFL match and didn’t return to the field.
But the out-of-favour defender has overcome the setback, with Phoenix Foster (concussion) and James Willis (illness), who missed that clash, also in line to return after Geelong’s VFL bye this weekend.
