25-year-old man charged after allegedly threatening partner with firearm in Darwin CBD

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Darwin after allegations of a serious domestic violence incident involving a firearm.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged after allegedly threatening his 24-year-old partner with a firearm in Darwin city.

Northern Territory Police said they received a report about the alleged incidents – which they say occurred between February 6 and 9 this year – on February 10, prompting an urgent investigation.

On February 11 about 11.20am, members of the Territory Response Group (TRG) arrested the man on Manson St in Darwin City.

During a search of a location “linked to the man”, police allegedly found an unspecified amount of dangerous drugs.

The Northern Domestic and Family Violence Unit has taken over the case.

The man has been charged with multiple offences, including making threats to kill, deprivation of liberty, aggravated assault, property damage, and several firearm and drug-related charges.

He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear in Darwin Local Court on February 12.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance near the Coolalinga Shopping Complex about 6.30pm on February 6 to come forward.
