Police are searching for a truck allegedly involved in a hit-and-run, which caused extensive damage to parked car on a busy freeway.

Police are appealing for any information about the whereabouts of a truck allegedly involved in a hit-and-run.

Emergency crews were called following reports of a black Toyota Yaris was struck while parked in the emergency lane on the Calder Freeway in Keilor Lodge, in Melbourne’s northwest, about 2.30pm on October 10.

Victoria Police believe that a heavy vehicle collided with the parked Yaris and fled the scene without stopping to assist.

Photos released by the police show how badly the car was damaged during the collision.

“Luckily no one was inside the vehicle at the time,” a police spokesman said.

Police believe the heavy vehicle allegedly involved in the hit and run was a Hino 500.

The truck would have significant damage to the left-hand side.

Anyone with information is being urged to came forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
