Tesla driver killed in head-on crash near Coolum Beach in Qld

A Tesla and a HiLux head-on crash has claimed the life of a woman in her 40s.

The female driver of a Tesla has died in a head-on collision on the Sunshine Coast.

The crash happened at Coolum Beach on Monday afternoon.

A 17-year-old male driving a HiLux was injured and taken to hospital.

Police want anyone with footage to come forward.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the Sunshine Motorway about 2.30pm on Monday.

In a statement, police said the Tesla Model 3 and the HiLux were travelling in opposite directions.

The 48-year-old Palmview woman driving the Tesla died at the scene.

The teenager driving the HiLux sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
