Hamish: I’ve been getting a bunch of requests coming through since I stood in as a photographer for my wife Zoë [Foster Blake] in a recent issue of Stellar. What I can tell you is that I can do Beyoncé and Bieber next week, but I can’t shoot Oprah next weekend.

Andy: You’ve stuffed it for me now though, because Bec [partner Rebecca Harding] has asked me a couple of times to shoot her in lockdown like you did with Zoë and I’ve done a shocking job. I believe “sh*thouse” is how you’d describe it.

Hamish: Now we’re infiltrating Stellar as star columnists, we’ll have to put our rates up.

Andy: We’re really just trying to find ways to amuse ourselves because we’ve been housebound for most of the year. That’s why we started our podcast series, Hamish & Andy’s Remembering Project. We figured there was nothing in the near future to look forward to, so we might as well look back.

Hamish: From our almost-two decades of radio, we pick a day of the year, look at the run sheet to find out what we did that day and see what we can remember.

Andy: And what we’ve discovered is that we remember things being better than they actually were. A bit like this saying we have: “Never go back to where you had schoolies week.” A few people have gone back and they always regret it.

This feels a lot like that... Such as realising 10 years on that maybe it was a pivotal moment in history, or maybe we were all way too caught up in So You Think You Can Dance if we felt it was essential to talk to Jason Coleman for an entire radio show.

Hamish found that we had Margot Robbie on one day, but we spent more time talking about a gravy sponsor than chatting to her.

Hamish: I don’t think we’d be able to get Margot Robbie on our show these days. But if we did, I don’t think we’d spend the entire four minutes talking to her about gravy.

Andy: I was surprised about how much work we did, how much we lived and breathed the show. I think it must have been a young guys’ game. Though would you call it “work”? It’s not really work – it’s fun.

And if life is all about the memories you make, then right now is extra hard on that front because we’re living through a time of monotony, particularly here in Melbourne. We will get back to making them, but during all of July, August, and September we had a lot of time to sift through the archives.

Hamish: It was either do that or sort out the cutlery drawer again.
