‘This is the cutest way for extroverted children to make new friends’

“I’m always met with positive feedback from the other adults about how much easier it is to do it this way,” the mum said.

A mum has gone viral after her son’s friend requested a playdate using a business card.

It was the end of the day, and mum, Vanity, was driving to her son’s school to pick him up.

When her son, Andre, climbed into the back seat of the car, he asked his mother if he could go on a playdate with his friend.

Mum shares 'genius' solution for helping kids make friends at playdates

“This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life”

Usually, when the 11-year-old wants to hang out with another child from school, their parents “don’t have each other’s information”.

This makes it exceedingly difficult to keep in contact when the kids are hanging out.

“At least at my school, they don’t give out kids’ personal info or their parents’ info for kids to connect,” she explained in the clip.

“Andre is typically connected with other kids in his class through, like, birthday invites.”

Thinking she was about to get handed another invitation, she was surprised when her son passed her a sleek business card.

“Play dates - text me up,” the business card read. Printed on the card was a “cute little photo of the child” and the kid’s name.

On the other side were important details, including the names of the kid’s parents and, of course, the child’s Roblox username.

Vanity revealed she was going to reach out to the child’s mother and “ask her how she did this” because she thought it was “the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life” that is perfect for “an extroverted parent of an extroverted child”.

Play date business cards have become increasingly popular with parents, with one mother explaining to the NY Post why she decided to start printing her own.

“I’m able to pack them in my bag and just hand them out when I meet a parent,” Lori said. “I’m always met with positive feedback from the other adults about how much easier it is to do it this way and how cute they are as well.”

According to the mum, who now runs her own business, her 11yo daughter “thinks it is very cool that she has her own business card and loves being able to hand them out herself”.

“Immediately making this”

Parents went wild online for the “genius” playdate idea, but many suspected this was a better option for kids who are introverted or have trouble making friends.

“I'm an introvert, so I've done this for years,” a mum wrote. “Immediately making this ‘cause I meet so many mums at the play place, but I’m so like introverted to ask,” another shared.

“My daughter is in the 3rd grade, and I’ve made these for her every year,” a proud parent wrote. “She’s been able to make long-lasting friendships.”

“I made these for my son … with the same info when he transferred out of his school so his friends could keep in touch,” said another. “He loved it.”

“I just made these for me and my daughter!” a fourth penned. “I have that our house has two dogs just in case someone is allergic to dogs.”

Others wondered if they had an adult version available.

“Ummm I need to make this for me,” a mother laughed. “My daughter easily is an extrovert but mummy is an introvert.”

“I need those for making new adult friends,” another agreed.
