People hate my name and send me horrible messages about it

"They've even said they would 'do the unthinkable' if they had a name like mine."

In 2022, a TikTok went viral about one of the most unique names - also a real word - we've ever heard of.

A woman named Tomorrow posted a clip to prove that was indeed her name.

While highly unusual, Kidspot could see the positive intention in the selection, and wrote a story about it.

This week, Tomorrow reached out to Kidspot to say thanks for seeing the hopeful sentiment in the name, as her mother had intended.

But Tomorrow also told us of the dark messages she's received, cruelly bullying her simply because of her unusual name.

"People don't believe my name"

Tomorrow, who is @i_lovechico on TikTok, said in her viral clip last year that her parents gave her a name that people don't always accept is truly hers.

At the time, her social media bio stated: "Yes, my name is Tomorrow."

When one user doubted her and asked, "Yo mama named you Tomorrow for real," the woman decided to make a video with proof.

The first shot in the clip shows a personalised pencil case, with the name "Tomorrow" clearly written on it.

Next, the login page on her laptop reads "Tomorrow" alongside her surname, which she covers for privacy.

For further proof, on some form of homework sheet, the name space reads "Tomorrow".

Finally, on a printed piece of paper, the unusual name is typed across the top.

It's called E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E, people.

A disturbing update

Talking to Kidspot this week, Tomorrow explained that she was excited to see the original story.

"I was very excited when I discovered the article and was very happy that someone was saying something positive about my name."

In fact, she shared a screenshot of the story to her Instagram, with the caption, "I guess I'm famous now."

Especially because, as she explained, that hasn't always been the response to her name. At all.

"People have been so upset about my name that they were telling me that they would kill themselves if they had a name like mine," Tomorrow admits.

But then she added, "I never thought it was that serious," meaning she thought those comments were laughable.

"My mum gave me this name because Tomorrow is a new day. Tomorrow is something better to look forward to, and Tomorrow is the future."

We think so, too.

Knowing how Tomorrow has been treated is a timely reminder that people on social media are real people with real feelings. Luckily, Tomorrow's positive spirit is reflected in her name.
