Dad calculates he makes 24 one-way trips, five times a week, for his kids

“You’re an Amazon driver, but the package hates you,” he laughs in his viral clip that thousands of parents related hard to. Do you drive your kids around this much?

Dad hilariously sums up the chaos of school schedules

"This is the difference between being a parent and a non-parent..." dad and comedian Dustin Nickerson begins his now-viral clip on TikTok.

So... what's the big difference?

The sheer amount of one-way trips you have to make.

Yep, you soon learn after becoming a parent that the dreaded school pick up and drop off isn't just a twice-daily occurrence, it's a never-ending task.

24 one-way trips a day, five times per week = 120 trips

Speaking on his parenting podcast which he co-hosts with his wife, Dustin draws a hilarious diagram to show just how many trips they have to make per week to ferry their kids around.

"I have three children that go to three different schools," he says, holding up a whiteboard with three stick figures on one side and their three different schools on the other.

He then begins drawing lines between the kids and their schools.

"So this kid [at the top], we take them into school, we go back. We pick them up from school, we go back," he says, referencing the standard school pick up and drop-offs.

He then draws these same lines for the two other kids.

But wait, there's more! Don't forget about ~ after-school activities ~.

"Each one of these kids also has an after-school activity in a different location than the school," he says as he adds more lines back and forth on the whiteboard.

Dustin concludes: "At a bare minimum, that is 24 one-way trips."

"Five times a week," Melissa adds.

Dustin jokes, "You're an Amazon driver, but the package hates you."

For people wondering why they don't just put their kids on a school bus, it's not always that simple. Some areas aren't serviced by them or have a lack of available drivers, plus don't accommodate extra-curricular schedules.

"And they're never on the same days for all your kids"

Thousands of people resonated in the comments, sharing their own experiences.

"Me cruising down the same stretch of road no less than eight times a day, and the kids have the audacity to complain about the music I’m playing," one fellow dad quipped.

Someone else pointed out: "Don’t forget about the late start and early out days and never on the same days for all your kids."

Then this person continued Dustin's reference to the Amazon 'package': "The package also forgot its most important content right inside the door of the warehouse and it cannot be delivered without it."

Someone else added: "And the package is always hungry."

"It often surprises me how many people have kids without thinking about things like this," concluded a different commenter.
