Even though it's 2024, some parents are still trying to make toxic masculinity happen.
Whether it's by not allowing their boys to play with dolls or wear pink, or polish their nails, some parents choose to continue to play into the traditional gender divide.
Like this mum, who has selected the 'manliest' name she could think of for her baby boy.

"My mum absolutely hates it"
Posting in a popular Facebook group, the mum recently explained her choice.
"My oldest son is named Alpha Mael (spelled Mael, means prince or chief) Armstrong.
"And my mum absolutely hates it."
Defensively, she continues, "Not silly at all though. Different but not silly. Conveys a lot."
It certainly does "convey a lot", but may commenters thought not necessarily in a good way.
They stuck into the mum with their concerns about how Alpha Mael will be treated by people for the rest of his life.
"He'll be bullied viciously"
One commenter wrote, "Not silly. Just unbelievably stupid."
A second added, "The kid will be bullied so viciously that I'm surprised they'd ever strap that on their child."
A mum shared,"Oh God. I'd seriously PAY my child hundreds to name their kids anything BUT that."
And of course, there were jokes aplenty, with one writing, "Please tell me that the second son is named Beta."
Many commenters were also brutal about the mum's attempts to be 'different' and convey a strong male message.
"This makes me want to scream wtf," read one comment for example.
This group member shared their strong opinion: "It's embarrassing for him, and I hope he cuts her out of his life forever when he's old enough."
Alrighty then.
This commenter addressed the mum's claim that the name wasn't "silly":
"Alpha Male! For real?! And that's not silly? No, I suppose it's not silly. It's frickin' stupid. Can you imagine having to grow up with that name? What is wrong with people??"
Others directly addressed the issue of the two names together, with one saying, "Mael is an old Welsh/Breton name, no problem with that. It's the Alpha which makes it questionable."
Well, at least she didn't choose the combination of Holden and Commodore, like this Aussie mum.
