Alexandra Crockett’s Metal Cats will make your day

MOVE over grumpy cat — metal cats are here. Tough, heavy metal-loving dudes don’t often let the world in to their cuddly soft sides. Except if you happen to be a cat.

FORGET about grumpy cat and lol cats — it’s all about metal cats this year.

Tough, hairy, metal-loving dudes don’t often let the world in to their cuddly soft sides. Except if they’re a cat lover — and you happen to be a cat. The unlikely pairing proves just how soft these hard-guys can be inside.

Cuddly, furry, playful, inquisitive cats and kittens are the preferred sidekicks of these metal music fans, musicians and promoters who play in bands such as Dead Again, Bible of the Devil, Obituary and Stab City.

Cat-loving photographer and musician Alexandra Crockett has been taking pictures of her metal-dude friends with their favourite felines since she was 14.

Her pictures prove that metal music isn’t all darkness, brutality and death- that’s just their bandnames.

She was fascinated when she encountered the loving relationship between these seemingly hard-edged musicians and music lovers and their cats while catsitting for a metal-loving friend.

Based out of Oakland, California Crockett has travelled in around the US and Sweden to gather portraits of the interesting characters featured in her book. The book also aims to support no-kill cat shelters in the US and highlight animal rights.

After releasing her book ‘Metal Cats’ this year Crockett is now on the lookout for her next project.

Images used with kind permission from the photographer.

Remember to support your local animal shelter.
