THE amazing edible creations of humble Tasmanian cake hobbyist Alice Munro have gone “viral” after photos of her amazing KFC bucket meal cake hit cyberspace.

“I am not a commercial cake maker but do love cooking them for my family,” the grandmother of eight said as online foodies expressed amazement at her sweet fast food replica.

“All the attention is a bit overwhelming to be honest.

“I have created many cakes over the past seven years including a T-bone steak and chips, a deer cake for my son’s 30th that weighed over 25kg and Subway and Pizza Hut creations.”

Mrs Munro’s inspiration to make cakes for special occasions was ignited by her first grandson’s birthday.

“I decided to give cakemaking a go and it now seems I am quite good at it,” she said.

“But I am a steelworker not a baker. I am just stunned at the attention I am getting since my work was highlighted online.”

While at first glance the KFC bucket creation features a standard fried chicken meal with sides, it is actually a series of cakes and fondant.

The Spreyton grandmother said the impressive creation took her five to six hours.

“The chicken pieces are mudcake dipped in white chocolate and rolled in crushed cornflakes,” she said.

“The bucket is made of vanilla sponge cake. I used Bakels white fondant to cover the cake and attached an edible image around the cake as I have my own edible printer.

To make the chips as realistic as possible she used an original chip box from the fast food chain.

Mrs Munro then stuffed it with paper towel so that she could position the yellow fondant fries which have been airbrushed with a light dusting of yellow/brown colouring.

For the Pepsi bottle she used an actual bottle as a chocolate mould and put a Pepsi wrapper around it.

“I can’t believe the fuss really. I have no plans to become a commercial cake maker. I am too busy helping my husband with steel work at our business.”
